Lighting a cigar isn’t just a step — it’s a ritual. At Infinity Cigars, we believe that how you light your cigar sets the tone for the entire experience. Here’s how to do it right, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned aficionado.
1. Choose the Right Flame
Avoid matches or regular lighters that use chemicals, as they can alter the taste of your cigar. Instead, use a soft flame lighter or wooden cigar matches for a clean, even burn.
2. Toast the Foot
Hold your cigar at a 45-degree angle above the flame (not in it) and rotate it slowly. This “toasting” step helps warm and prep the tobacco evenly, reducing the chance of an uneven burn later.
3. Take Your Time
Once toasted, place the cigar in your mouth and bring it closer to the flame. Rotate as you puff gently — don’t rush it. You want the cigar to light evenly across the foot.
4. Check the Burn
After the first few draws, inspect the lit end. If one side is lagging, rotate the cigar while smoking to help it self-correct.
A properly lit cigar makes all the difference — it brings out the complexity of the blend and makes the whole experience smoother.
